Arrangements are in progress to include Government-owned shares of the Lesotho Brewing Company which were acquired by the Government of Lesotho from the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) in the Lesotho Unit Trust. The shares which in total amount to a ten per cent shareholding (10%) in the LBC were acquired by the Government of Lesotho for the Lesotho Unit Trust in accordance with the policy objectives of the Government of Lesotho to facilitate Basotho private sector investment in the former parastatal companies. The Management of Lesotho Unit Trust is finalising arrangements with the Privatisation Unit on the acquisition of the Government shares in the historically profitable company. Plans are afoot to include shares of other profit making privatized companies such as Imperial Fleet Services Lesotho (Pty) Ltd in the Lesotho Unit Trust to enable investment by the Basotho private sector.
